The Features and Benefits of a Dry Sauna
![]() |
When many people think of a sauna, they think of an extremely hot room filled with steam. While this is an accurate description of many sauna facilties, there's also what's known as a dry sauna. The newest and most exciting type of dry sauna is the infrared heat sauna.
Dry saunas are great for helping the body naturally expel toxic metals from the body. The thought of metal being in the body may be a strange thought, but it's definitely a fact! While the kidneys are designed to excrete these metals from the body, regular sessions in a dry sauna can accelerate the process. Some examples of potentially harmful metals that may be found in the body include mercury, nickel and lead.
Dry saunas cause the body to perspire. Perspiration is a natural process which allows the body to wash away toxic materials that can lead to various types of illness and discomfort. In addition, the heat produced by a dry sauna works to raise the heart rate, much like cardiovascular activity does. Not only does the sweating help diminish excess water weight and bloating, the acceleration of the heart works to burn off calories.
Many sports enthusiasts and athletes swear by a dry sauna session after a hard workout or sporting event. The soothing heat speeds the body's ability to repair the tissues and alleviates discomfort such as muscle strain and soreness. If you suffer from uncomfortable conditions like arthritis, time spent in a dry sauna can provide relief from your discomfort.
Sauna use is also a great beautifier. The perspiration and heat helps exfoliate dead skin, improves circulation and imparts a healthy, vibrant look. Even the unsightly look of cellulite can be diminished by regular sessions in a dry sauna.
If you want a dry sauna in your home, there are many choices out there. There are dry saunas that cost a few hundred dollars, and dry saunas that cost thousands of dollars. Some of the most inexpensive types of infrared heat saunas are the portable ones, which are not only cost-efficient, but space saving as well. Apartment dwellers who want the luxury of a sauna can't go wrong with these handy portable saunas!
