Choosing the Right Sauna Heater

A sauna heater, also commonly known as a sauna stove, is probably the most crucial aspect of a modern sauna. There are a variety of different kinds of sauna heaters on the market today, including electric, gas and woodburning heaters. Each one of these different types of heaters has various benefits and drawbacks. Let's take a look:

Electric Heaters: Today's electric sauna heaters heat quickly and remain cool to the touch. They come in a variety of colors and are a convenient way to heat your sauna. However some people don't care for electric sauna heaters simply because of the skyrocketing energy costs. If energy costs aren't a concern for you, you'll find a variety of great electric heaters by companies like Polar Sauna, Avalon, Catalina, Tylo and Mr. Sauna. You can expect to pay anywhere from about $400 to $700 for a good electric sauna heater.

Gas Heaters: Some people prefer gas heat for their sauna. Many gas heaters such as the Ultra Sauna gas fired heater can accommodate up to 450 pounds of rocks and are designed for use with water. Attractive design, efficient heating and great safety features make gas heaters a top choice for any home sauna. This type of heater is a bit more pricey than the electric type of sauna heaters, costing around $2000 to $3500 depending on size.

Woodburning Heaters: Many people feel that a woodburning sauna heater is the only way to go. Woodburning sauna stoves are a fantastic alternative to their gas and electric counterparts. For around $500 to $700 you can own one of these heaters. Features include effective heat, effective flame circulation and an authentic, traditional look and feel. Look for woodburning sauna heaters from top names like Polar Sauna and Catalina for ultimate quality.

Regardless of what kind of sauna heater you choose, you're sure to love your home-based sauna. Sauna heat can help you shed pounds, cleanse and detoxify the body, improve the appearance of the skin and promote ultimate relaxation. In Finland, the sauna is a way of life and recommended as a remedy for most any ailment imaginable. While the sauna may not be a magic cure for illness, it can be therapeutic and very enjoyable to use!
